lady gaga look hot here. hahaha. anyway, having theory test tomorrow. and i've yet to revise all. sheeeesh. a lot to study yo. and i just ahve a small tiny brain. i don't know whether i can absorb all or not but just wish me luck peepos. okay what i know is that oropharygenal airway is for patient who is unconscious or for those who has absence in gag reflex. the complications is that if the airway is too long, i may press against the epiglottis and if the airway is too short, i can cause injury to the teeth, mouth and lips. also do not tape the airway because once the patient has become alert, he/she will have difficulty in expelling the airway and this increases the risk of gagging and aspiration. then the airway length is determined by measuring from the ear lobe to the tip of nose. ensure that patien has correct length to prevent complication. then for the suctioning, limit the suctioning to 10-15secs only. apply pressure when sucking out and also slowly remove tube in a rotating motion. for the medication, remember the 5 rights which is right patient, right route, right time, right dosage and right drug. always check patient's name against IMR at least 3 times. and also ask patient to verbalize name and IC number. okay i shall not talk about medication cause it similar to the skills test. next is oxygen therapy. there are 4 types of mask. nasal prong, simple face mask, non-rebreather mask and venturi mask. nasal prong delivers 2litre of air per minute which is 24%-28%, for the simple face mask is 10litre of air per minute which is 60%, non-rebreather mask is 15litre of air per minute which is 100% and lastly venturi mask which is 12litre of air per minute which is 40%. oh ya, the drug calculation formula is drug dose ordered by doctor/drug dose on bottle container X drug form. medical asepsis is a procedure use to reduce and prevent the spread of pathogens while surgical asepsis is a procedure used to eliminate all pathogens. and there are 4 types of bandaging; arm sling, high arm sling, spiral and figure of eight bandage.
